What is SendPol for Shopify?

How it works
1. Install the App
Install the SendPol app from the Shopify App Store and connect your SendPol account via your API key.
2. Customer places order
When a customer pays for an order, the app automatically retrieves the VAT number from checkout.
3. Automatic invoice
The app automatically creates a Peppol e-invoice and sends it to the Peppol network (if enabled).
VAT number in checkout
The app adds a VAT number field to your checkout. The number is validated per country, stored on the order and used automatically for the Peppol e-invoice.
How to enable the field
- 1In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Checkout and click Customize on your active checkout
- 2In the sidebar, click Add block and pick Company VAT Field
- 3Drag the block to the position you want (for example below Contact or below Payment) and make sure the eye icon is set to visible
- 4Click Save — the field is live in your checkout immediately
VAT number
Optional field for the buyer. The format is validated per EU country (BE0..., NL...B01, DE..., etc.).
Registration number per country
Belgian buyers automatically see an extra KBO number field, Dutch buyers a KvK number, French SIREN, Luxembourg Matricule and German Handelsregisternummer.
Custom label and help text
Adjust the label and help text through the block settings in the checkout editor.
VAT numbers on admin/backend orders
Orders you create yourself in Shopify admin skip the checkout. There are two routes for those:
Per order in the SendPol app
Open the order in Apps → SendPol and enter the VAT number there. It is applied to the document, including on reprocessing.
Automatic via B2B (Shopify Plus)
When a B2B company with a company profile orders, SendPol automatically reads the VAT number from the company location's tax registration.

Start in test mode
By default, every new webshop is in test mode. Documents are validated and visible in your SendPol dashboard, but they are not forwarded to the Peppol network. This lets you safely test your workflow before any invoice goes live.
When you are ready for production, switch off test mode in your webshop settings under MyAccount.
